Memphis Grizzlies vs Portland Trail Blazers
PREVIEW: The Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies meet Sunday in NBA action at the FedExForum. Portland has been in a slump, losing nine of their last 12 games overall, and will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the Pistons in a 122-116 road defeat on Friday. The Blazers bring elite offensive rebounding ranked second league-wide at 32.5 percent, along with a quick tempo and high-frequency rim attacks, but struggle with turnover management and inefficient outside shooting ranked 29th and 30th respectively. Deni Avdija led the team with 35 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Jerami Grant added 29 points and Shaedon Sharpe chipped in with 28 points off the bench.
Memphis has been in fine form, winning six of their last eight games overall, and will be looking to stay hot after running past the struggling Clippers in a 107-98 home win on Friday. The Grizzlies feature a high frequency of post-up shots ranked second in the league and elite defensive rebounding, but allow plenty of three-point attempts ranked 24th and struggle defending the rim ranked 24th as well. Cedric Coward led the team with 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer each scored 17 points. Both teams are missing numerous players, but the Grizzlies have tallied up six wins from their past eight games mostly through their effort on defense.
