Welcome back Max-a-Millionaires to a Friday edition of WNBA picks and analysis. The W has a loaded card tonight as they have 4 games slated for tonight's action. As always, we are going to try and use ShotQuality data to help us find an edge. Specifically, I am seeing value here in the Fever and Sky game so let's dive in!
Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever 7:30 PM
The game I am looking to attack is this matchup between the Sky and Fever. As you might have noticed, the Fever have been on absolute fire since the Olympic break.
The Fever are 4-1 since the break after a slow start to the season. ShotQuality agrees with this great run as well as SQ has them projected 4-1 during this stretch as well. This young team really took advantage of their time off to get better and build chemistry.
The opposite could be said for the Chicago Sky. The Sky are 1-5 since the break and SQ also agrees with these results having them 1-5 on the SQ record as well. The Sky have been struggling and I expect that to continue without their two guards they utilized mightily in the first half of the season.
One of the guards is Marina Mabrey who they traded so her absence was always planned. The unexpected loss has been Chennedy Carter who has been out with an illness. Without these two players, they are both 0-2 straight up and against the spread.
Lastly, I am expecting a major advantage for the Fever offense tonight. Indiana ranks 1st in SQ Offensive Shot Selection which measures a teams ability to take high quality shots, regardless of the result.
They get to play the Sky who ranked dead last in SQ Defensive Shot Selection. I am expecting a lot of easy high quality looks for this high octane Fever offense. Especially from Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.
Every game this year against the Sky, Clark has improved her passing each time out. She recorded 6 assists in the first game, 9 dimes in the following matchup, and 13 assists in their most recent game.
Kelsey Mitchell has really benefited from Clark's distributing, especially in their most recent matchup where she scored 24 points and 22 SQ points. Since returning from the break, Mitchell has gone over in all 5 games scoring 28, 27, 21, 29, and 23 points. I am expecting a big game from the Fever, and these two players specifically.
Max-a-Million Best Bets:
Indiana Fever -6.5 (-112)
Caitlin Clark Over 8.5 Assists (-130)
Caitlin Clark Over 9.5 Assists (+120)
Kelsey Mitchell Over 19.5 Points (+100)
As always, shop around for best line. I will be risking to win 1u on each except the two Clark props I am going to win 0.5u on each.
